A few players reported that on some Macbooks and Macbook Pros, the game will occasionally start for the first time at a higher resolution than their actual display, due to a bug in OSX reporting the incorrect resolution back to our engine.
We believe we have fully addressed this issue through the September 2016 patch. If you're still encountering this after ensuring your game is completely up to date, please take a look at the old workarounds below.
- Open up your terminal by going to Applications > Utilities > Terminal and paste the following:
defaults write unity.CampoSanto.Firewatch ResolutionHeight -int 1280
defaults write unity.CampoSanto.Firewatch ResolutionWidth -int 2048
Feel free to change the numbers following "-int" to be your desired resolution.
Big thanks to Steam user crashshanny for discovering this workaround!
- From Firewatch's main menu, go to Settings > Graphics
Select any 16:9, 16:10, or 5:4 resolution from the list on the left side of the screen. Once the resolution switches successfully, you should see the full screen now. For many users you can then change back to any other resolution in that list and everything will be fine, although you may need to quit and restart the game first.
